Every night before bed while tucking me in, amm would ask me these three questions:
1. How was your day?
2. What was the best part?
3. Did anything bad happen?
Every night. Every. Night.
Arrine is now in a big girl bed. Yes, she is almost three, but we loved the idea of keeping her contained during the night. Or at least I did. But we had started prepping her with the idea of a big girl bed and on the weekend she asked for us to make her crib into a big girl bed for her. And we did. And she has done awesome.
And I love it because I can get down close to her when saying goodnight. And automatically, tonight, without thinking about it I said:
“Arrine, how was your day?” – “I dunno.”
“What was the best part?” – “Outside.” – “Playing outside?” – “Yes.”
“Did anything bad happen?” – “Nope.”
And there it was. The tradition continuing. I look forward to asking Arrine those three questions, every night, for the rest of our time together.
