I read this blog after seeing it posted on a friend’s Facebook page. And I love it because I felt it is related to my Oath To My Daughter and DanceHer’s “i amm“.

Before reading this blog, the only time I ever really told Arrine that I thought *I* was beautiful was when I would hold her, we would look in the mirror and I would say, “Look at these two beautiful girls.”

After reading this blog, I have found myself saying, “Arrine, you look beautiful today. And Mommy is beautiful too!” But at the same time adding on an “I’m proud of you for ____” or “And you’re very smart”. So that Arrine doesn’t feel that her looks is all she has to be proud of.

It’s a balancing act. But now I am balancing myself out too.
