I had the chance to get out of the office today. I am currently working on three projects and one is scheduled for construction in October, just on the south-east edge of Red Deer. The sun shone. The clouds were few. The wind was calm. And many times over, the group said to one another, “It’s a beautiful day for a site visit.”

The project had us traveling the back roads all along the east side of the city. We would drive for a bit, pull over, get out of the truck, congregate, chat, discuss, and then begin the cycle again. And at one point I was standing in a ditch with high grass. And the grasshoppers were so loud. And it was a familiar sound. And I thought of amm. And the setting made me think of others that I have lost.

And I miss them so…
